Hi all! Sara Marie here. We had a wonderful time up in Manchester celebrating the opening night of 13 going on 30 the Musical. I thought it would be fun to show you all what a day in my life as a co-producer on a new musical entailed!
Around 9am, we started off the day with a coffee (it was essential for a successful day of networking) and made our way back to the hotel to get ready for the first event of the day! Side note: I am living for the fall coffee season and flavours- bring on the cinnamon!

On our way to the venue for the first event, we passed by Manchester Opera house and had to stop to take a photo with the marquee. I can't begin to describe how surreal this was- dreaming about something since you were 12 and having it happen ten years later feels like an out-of-body experience. A core memory!

After a brisk 5-minute walk, we arrived at 20 Stories for a co-producer mixer. It was a great opportunity to meet some of the other producers and creative team before getting swept away in the show itself and the afterparty. Personally, I find afterparties to become overwhelming from time to time because you are trying to meet people and fighting to speak over the music so I was very grateful for the team at ROYO providing all of us this moment to get to know each other! A few midday glasses of Prosecco were had over lovely conversation and gorgeous views of the city.
Once we were done at 20 Stories (and had stopped to admire the views from the very posh toilets), we made our way over to a different hotel to pick up our tickets and some incredibly generous gifts from the team at ROYO. I want to take a moment to express the utmost respect and gratitude for ROYO. They made us feel so welcome, ensured any questions we had were answered and invited us into the process in any way we wanted to be involved. Thank you Tom, Hamish, Izzy, Marcus and all of the rest of the team for everything you do!

We were quite hungry at this point so we went back to the hotel to have some dinner (and another coffee) before taking an hour to change and get ready for the main event! We arrived at the theatre around 6:50pm and took some photos on the step and repeat before saying our hellos to the team and finding our seats. I think director and all-around wonderful human, Andy Fickman, wins best outfit of the night without a doubt! Working with Andy has been a delight and we can't wait to embark on our next show with him. Freaky Friday tickets are available now!

Once inside, we bought some merchandise, took a few more photos and then found our seats. And the show began!! I absolutely love the source IP so when thus was announced and we received the opportunity to be a part of it, I couldn't resist! I was able to watch a rehearsal and had seen the full show in an earlier iteration so I was excited to see what the final version in Manchester would be. I ADORED the show. It stayed for true to the source material and so many of the songs were stuck in my head as I was leaving the theatre. One for all ages which is great to see and the kids were incredible as well as the adult company.

Riding on a high from the catchy tunes and feel-good message, we made our way to
the afterparty location which had been completely transformed into the Poise party! We danced the night away and celebrated with several Piña Coladas and a Thriller flashmob as the cherry on top to a gorgeous night. We are so excited to be a part of this show and can't wait to see what is next.

Stay tuned for more updates!
